Setting Goals

I hope you guys are having the happiest Wednesday morning ever! This week has been a crazy rollercoaster of emotions. So many things are going on and I’m happy I am surviving (thus far).

But I wanted to take this little space on your screen to share something that has been so impactful in my life. I understand that some people may not be as driven or goal-oriented as I have become over the years, but there is honestly something amazing that happens when we set goals.

Goals inspire us, push us to work harder, and help us visually understand the growth we wish to see. I would not be half the person I am today if I didn’t set goals on the regular.

The best way, I have found, to set attainable goals is to mark out some time to sit down with a journal and start dreaming. Think of each area of your life… here are some starters:

  • Spiritual Life: How can you grow closer to God, how can you push down the walls of your comfort zone?
  • Personal Life: How can you improve on personal events? How can you live the life you want to live?
  • Relationships: How can you be Jesus to those around you? Be the friend, family member, etc. you needed.
School/work: How can you become more effective? Create better quality work?

Then, the very biggest thing I can suggest is praying over each section. Pray for the Lord to reveal areas in your life where you need to grow. Ask him to bless each goal and for strength in the hard times.

One of the biggest things I have learned throughout my walk as a Christian is that growth must take place or you are doing something wrong.

If you are not fully sprinting towards God, then you are jogging into sin.

If you are not rushing towards the arms of Christ, then you are rushing towards sin and defeat (it may seem slow, but believe me, you are getting closer and closer with each minute.) And the same goes for every area of our lives. If we are not intentionally trying to improve on the gifts God has given us, then we are wasting them.

And friends, you are capable of so many amazing things. If I could sit down with each one of you I would tell you just how amazing you are. Because you guys are so amazing. God looked at his creation knowing that one day you would be apart of it.

Let’s just think about that again,

God looked at his creation knowing that one day you would be apart of it.

That’s pretty cool. You have been created in such a great way but such a great God, to do such great things. In order to do so, you have to start dreaming and doing amazing things.

I know this may be a stretch for some of you, but it’s SO worth it. If you don’t want to do it for yourself, do it for me, your favorite blogger!! (jk I very well may not be your all-time favorite.)

At least take the time to think about your dreams. Think about the person you want to be in 10 years. The things you want to accomplish by then.

Now, I don’t want to pass along false information. God loves you exactly how you are and doesn’t need for you to be perfect. But, as I said before, God wants the very best for us, and that takes constant improvement. That means, when God says he wants us to be joyful, we have to intentionally choose to be joyful.

When God says he wants us to live free from sin, that means that we have to constantly have to fight temptation and sin.

As Christians we are always striving to be more Christ-like… and you guessed it, setting goals is a HUGE part of that.

I want the very best for each and every single one of you! I pray for you guys daily and hope to get to know you all much better!

Here’s to setting goals!

XOXO, The Christian Prepster
