Thankfulness & Joy

Okay, I just had one of the best weeks of my life. Which seems kinda odd because nothing super amazing happened but nevertheless, my week was amazing!!

I go through seasons of being super positive and then super negative. During the fridge months, I am normally very negative. But something happened this week.

I have been praying recently for the Lord to help me to choose joy. To seek him and get excited about the little things in life.

Today, I am finally able to say that I have been joyful for the majority of the week. I was excited to go to school and love people. I was excited to drive my car and listen to Christian music. I was excited to pray with my friends. I was excited to talk to people I am not comfortable with.

And truthfully, It was pretty easy once I got the hang of it. It started the moment I got into my car… and it started (which for my car is a blessing).

At that moment, I said a little prayer. Thanked the Lord for a working car. It was small but it put my heart in a thankful place.

You all have heard it before, a thankful heart is a happy heart. And it is so so so true. When we start looking for the moments to be thankful in life, we are a lot happier… thus making those around us happier.

Philippians is considered the book of joy. And for great reason! Paul writes to God’s people challenging them to be joyful in their sufferings and joyful in hard times.

Paul is seriously the best person to write this letter. He shares about how he was able to give thanks in jail, in persecution, and in heartache. If Paul can be thankful and joyful in jail, then we can be joyful in a traffic jam, when our Netflix doesn’t load fast enough, and when the wifi is down. (I know I picked very tiny issues… I did so to get my point across)

It is really that simple. Seek the moments in life that give glory to God and thank him for it. I’ve challenged myself this past week to be more prayerful and thankful. It hasn’t been natural… but it’s been so impactful.

So start tomorrow. The moment you wake up… thank the Lord for another day. No matter if it’s raining, snowing, or sunny… thank him. Then get ready. Thank him for how wonderfully you have been created. And then keep going. Keep running with a thankful heart.

My challenge for you this week is to share this with someone else. Tell them how being thankful has made you so much more joyful. Send this post to a friend that could use it. Or even just leave a comment and tell me how being thankful has influenced you.

Don’t keep the joy of the Lord to yourself!!!

Also, you guys remember Loved by the King? Well, she is selling shirts to raise money for an upcoming mission trip! Make sure to check them out and help her raise funds for her trip! Here is the link to her adorable shirts:

I love you all SO much and look forward to hearing from you.

XOXO, The Christian Prepster
