Night Routine+Essential Oil Review

Hey guys! I don’t do posts like this a lot but I am excited to give it a try. This past week has been such a great one. And part of that comes from the daily choices I have been making.

If you guys have read my New Year’s Resolutions posts than some of these may sound familiar. But to those of you who haven’t been reading my blog for a long time… welcome!!

I wanted to share some of the intentional things I do every night that, not only help me to wind down but also prepare me for tomorrow. Also, there is a product review at the end of this post… so stay tuned!

//Once I come home for the night, I clean out all of my bags and get them ready for tomorrow. I hate waking up in the morning without my bags being ready to go. It makes a huge difference. And I want to have enough time in the morning to read my Bible and not just skim through and check off the box. In order to ensure I have good quiet time, I have to prepare for it.

//After that, I start getting ready for bed. This includes putting on my PJ’s, cleaning my face and hanging with my family. Nights are probably my favorite time of the day. Just being able to relax, hang, and watch some Downton Abbey.

Once I am ready to hit the hay, I get into bed and crack open my Bible. I normally read a chapter of the Bible and do some journaling. Whether in my prayer journal or in one of my many other random thought journals, I always aim to journal at least once a day.

Quick tangent:

I actually have a journal in my backpack for random moments or thoughts during school that I have to jot down. It has been so useful and fun to carry it with me.

Once I have journaled, I pray about my day and pray for tomorrow. I ask the Lord to give me strength in the morning and for Him to be my main focus for the next day.

Then I close my eyes and go to sleep. Overall it’s a pretty simple list of tasks but it really makes a world of a difference.

What I have learned over the years, is that you have to be intentional with your daily tasks. If you want the Lord to be your focus, you have to choose Him over other things.

That’s why I pray, that’s why I read my Bible. It’s always a conscious decision to pick Jesus. And it is SO worth it.

This past week I was able to add something new to my nightly routine… essential oils!!

I have loved the idea of essential oils but haven’t really experimented with them. I was sent a sleep roller from oilsandthread. I have used it EVERY NIGHT and love it. It is a mixture of all sorts of relaxing fragrances and it calms me down in a heartbeat.

I decided to put it on the sides of my temple, behind my ears, and on my wrists (just because it smells so so so good)

I would 10 out of 10 recommend buying from oilsandthread. She is beyond sweet and creates amazing products.

Along with my sleep roller, I was also given some samples of her non-toxic makeup line. LET ME JUST TELL YOU!!!!! AMAZING.

I am not a huge makeup person but this stuff is amazing. It enhances instead of covers your face. It is so simple and beautiful.

Like I said before, I don’t do a lot of reviews like this but I just HAD to share it with you all.

And I want to clarify something, although these products are amazing, they will not make you any more joyful. These little things can, however, point us to Christ. We shouldn’t wake up and immediately reach for makeup. Our worth is not based on our outward beauty.

And, although the sleep roller is amazing, I find true rest in Jesus Christ. And it is when we know that and have our lives rooted in that truth, that we can use awesome products like this and not find our worth in them or depend on them.

Amazing little things like those should be used in addition to a whole lot of prayer and time with Jesus, not in place of Jesus.

I hope you guys are challenged to look at the daily tasks you are completing. Are they God-focused? How can they be more God-focused?

Let me know your thoughts!

XOXO, The Christian Prepster
