Chasing Faliure

Watch original video  and do original study

It was a Wednesday morning, I had just finished a devotional and I needed a new one. In two days I would be competing in a state poetry competition and it didn’t look like I had a shot at being successful. As I swiped through the devotionals, I found Chasing Failure by Ryan Leak. First off, kudos to Mr. Leak because the font choice is spot on!

My next thought was, “what in the world? Why would I ever want to chase failure?” That is the same thought that caused me to tap my finger and begin this life-changing devotional.

“What if chasing failure is the fastest way to success?”

-Ryan Leak-

Once you watch this video  you will understand why and how chasing failure will lead to success. This devotional caused me to look at my poetry competition in a whole new way. I am a freshmen from a small school going up against seniors from big schools, and I am going to fail. After I got that “honesty” out, I could move forward.

I didn’t know if I was good enough to be competing against experienced upperclassmen, but the one thing I did know was that I had been preparing for this competition for a long time and I truly loved performing the poetry.

The poetry competition went great and I ended up in the top eight out of twenty. But, don’t get me wrong, in the preparation process, there were times when I wanted to quit, times when I knew that no matter how hard I tried, I would fail.

Luckily, I was wrong! Looking back, I wonder what would have come of me if I had dropped out. For starters, I wouldn’t have a nice plaque with my name engraved on it or the pride of knowing that I truly tried my very hardest and performed those poems to the best of my ability. From here on out, I have decided that failure is not a fear of mine, instead, I want to chase it!

XOXO, The Christian Prepster

  1. Failure is not an option ! It is just one positive step of successfully discovering ideas that simply do not work as we continue toward the one that works as intended. God challenges us to keep searching to become all he intended us to be. Continue the journey…As You light up the world.
