Last weekend I had two volleyball tournaments and I learned a whole lot about perseverance and left inspired!
We all have gone through something that takes all we have. We realize that it would be much easier to give up instead of pushing hard and finishing.
“But because God was so gracious, so very generous, here I am. And I’m not about to let his grace go to waste. Haven’t I worked hard trying to do more than any of the others? Even then, my work didn’t amount to all that much. It was God giving me the work to do, God giving me the energy to do it. So whether you heard it from me or from those others, it’s all the same: We spoke God’s truth and you entrusted your lives.” – 1 Corinthians 15:10-11
God has given us the gift to finish and to use perseverance in each difficult situation that we face. Last weekend, my team faced some pretty intense competition and we could have easily given up. After a few quick prayers asking for endurance and encouragement, my team pushed through and finished strong!
Christ has graciously given me a passion for volleyball and, as Corinthians 15:10 says, “I will not let it go to waste.”
Finishing with perseverance makes the finish even more rewarding. I find that statement to be true in every challenge that I face. As long as I push hard and use my talent for Christ, the finish will be twice as sweet!
I have found that the best way to perservere is to be in constant prayer. If it’s to keep your energy during a sport or waking up in the morning for work, we are called to perservere and keep going!
Hey Jesus! I want to thank you for being a gracious God that cares about every detail of our lives. We all “waste” our talents sometimes and we give up whenever it gets difficult. I pray that you will help us to perservere and finish strong. Please interfere with our lives and give us the extra strength to say, “Hallelujah it’s finished!” Amen
