let there be cake

“A party without cake is just a meeting!”

– Julie Child

As I approach my Birthday this Sunday (whoop whoop!) I’ve become awestruck in the fact that I have changed so much in such a short period of time. It’s crazy how I can look at a picture of me from four years ago and not recognize myself.

Just in the past two months, I have changed. For one, I have started a blog, I have fallen in love with reading, like really in love with reading, I have read so many books in this past year that shopping for books is one of my favorite things. I have started working-out more, well… I have tried to work out more! But most importantly, I have grown in my faith and I am looking forward to further growth.

I must say, I really love the person that Christ is changing me into. I have come to realize that I can be a very shy sometimes and I used to think that that was a personality flaw. But as I have seen, whenever I do talk and say my opinion, I am more respected. Being shy is not a flaw, I believe that it is  gift. I have found that being shy is not being uncomfortable, it’s just being slow to speak and observant.

With all that said, change is scary, it really wakes you up and helps you realize that nothing of this word stays the same, even the world itself is always moving! This can be a very freighting thought, but then, I remembered Malachi 3:6

bible verse

If I could chose one thing that would stay the same, I would chose Christ! It is crucial for use to have one thing that is ALWAYS the same, no matter what! Now, I can go forward with the knowledge and assurance that nothing will ever stay the same except Christ our Lord! Change can be a great thing that may seem scary now, but will be great in the end.

I am ready for this Birthday; I hope this new age brings a year of great changes!

XOXO, The Christian Prepster

    I love that your in love with books. That made me giggle. Wonderful! Your still growing and yet this post makes one thing apparent- your soul has grown deep and wide. Maybe even outgrown your body! I was just thinking the other day that we so quickly grab ahold of all this new flashy technology and the world changes so rapidly. I started thinking about what it meant to rely on ancient things or things that change much slower….nature for example…but yes! Your right! It is God that is unchanged and that is a rock in this fastly changing world and to my ever getting older body. Beautiful words birthday girl.

  2. your blog reminds me of my favorite quote “Bloom where you’re planted” I love it’s simplicity and how true it has been for me when I have faced change, adversity, or even happiness. Stay centered in your faith and realize that life constantly changes as do each of us. Bloom On!

      I love that quote also! Another one of my favorite quotes, related to plants (haha) is, “Don’t dig up what you planted in faith!” I struggle with the idea of leaving my problems, with Christ. Once my problems are planted in faith, I need to learn to let go and trust that God is great and will take care of my life!
